BUCKNELL -- Hollidaysburg Area High School's Kaden Henderson competed on Wednesday at the PIAA 3A Swimming & Diving Championships at Bucknell University, where he came up short in his bid to make the finals of his 50-yard freestyle event.
Henderson, a freshman, finished his event in 22.84. He came with a seeded time of 22.19. He placed 31st out of the 32 swimmers competing.
The cutoff for the swim was 21.53 turned in by Spencer Alderson of Hatboro-Horsham. The best time was Jonathan Hoole of Penncrest, and Jake Kennedy of Springfield, who both finished in first at 20.30. The finals will be held today.
ICC stars out
The Inter-County Conference released its winter sports all-conference teams on Wednesday for wrestling plus boys and girls basketball teams.
Northern Bedford placed five wrestlers on the team, including Eion Snider, Wyatt Clouse, Brock Beach, Aiden Replogle and Rece Dibert. Glendale was represented by Daniel Williams and George Campbell.
In girls basketball, Williamsburg placed three Lady Pirates on the North team -- Levada Gorsuch, Ayla Hileman and Leanna Royer. They are joined by Juniata Valley's Anna Taylor and Glendale's Madison Peterson.
Northern Bedford put two on the East team: Mariah Hall and Leah Swanseen. Juniata Valley's Maddie Hopsicker received Honorable Mention status.
In boys basketball, Claysburg-Kimmel placed two on the East team: Brayden Haney and Elias Ritchey. For the North, Williamsburg's Rowan Gorsuch made the team, along with Juniata Valley's Connor Robinson.
Honorable Mention status went to Williamsburg's Logan Brantner, Juniata Valley's Chris Diehl and Charles Mattas, plus Glendale's Connor Potutschnig, as well as Northern Bedford's Alex Kochara.
