Bellwood-Antis sophomore Juliette Cuevas followed up her seventh-place finish at the inaugural PIAA Girls Championships by capturing a state title at 103 pounds in the girls 15-16 age division of the Keystone State Championships over the weekend at Santander Arena in Reading.
Cuevas pinned Fort LeBoeuf's Hayden Ramey in 3:12 in the championship finals. Both of her wins were pins.
Glendale's Bethany Watt finished second at 148 in the same division. Chestnut Ridge state champion Violette Lasure pinned Watt in 53 seconds.
Northern Bedford's Knox Dibert won a boys 11-12 state title at 200, winning by disqualification over Corry's Brody Nickerson inn 3:54.
Claysburg-Kimmel's Jonah Burkett captured first in the boys 6 and under division with an 11-0 win over Easton's Hayden Zemba at 41 pounds.
Portage's Brynlee Myers won a state title in the girls 6 and under division at 40 pounds with a 13-3 victory over Punxsutawney's Quinn Brink.
Altoona's Deklan Barr finished second in the boys 13-14 group at 115, falling to Manheim Township's Frank Leanza, 5-2, in the finals.
Portage's Ellie Myers was second in the girls 11-12 group at 83, dropping a 2-0 decision to Richland's Giada Croteau.
In the boys 9-10 group, Claysburg-Kimmel's Jacobi Burkett placed second at 55 pounds. Chestnut Ridge's Kohyn Deputy won the weight class with a pin of Burkett in 31 seconds.
There were many other area placewinners across the age divisions, including Central's Kaden Horn (fifth, 136) and Altoona's Michael Colyer (eighth, 195) in the boys 15-16 group. Regionally, Everett's Spencer Shaw (eighth, 130) also placed.
Central Cambria's MaKenna Smith was third at 110 in the girls 15-16 group. Regionally in the group, Philipsburg-Osceola had two placers in Halee Grubb (fifth, 117) and Daisy Glessner (seventh, 165).
In the boys 13-14 division, there were three area seventh-placers in Claysburg-Kimmel's Brennan Veverka (87), Altoona's Dominic Picciotti (92) and Central Cambria's Haydyn Strittmatter (105).
In the same division, Chestnut Ridge's Kooper Deputy won the 82-pound state title, while Ridge's Trenden Willey was second at 125. Moshannon Valley's Rocco Reifer was also second at 185.
Bellwood-Antis' Isabel Higgins (seventh, 125) and Central Cambria's Kaydence Sinclair (eighth, 115) were medalists in the girls 13-14 division. Chestnut Ridge's Juliet Alt captured first at 150 in the division, pinning P-O's Charlotte Hunt in 2:23.
In the boys 11-12 group, Penn Cambria's Carter Hardy (third, 60), Bellwood-Antis' Bowen Taylor (fifth, 60) and Hollidaysburg's Mason Kephart (fifth, 65) placed in the top five.
Also earning medals were Altoona seventh-placer Nate Picciotti (75) and eighth-placers in Northern Bedford's Chris Corle (eighth, 60), Glendale's Hunter Ammerman (105) and Hollidaysburg's Samuel Consiglio (125).
Three Chestnut Ridge wrestlers won titles in the boys 11-12 group in Grayden Paris (65), Crew Musselman (70) and Carter Ickes (80). Other regional wrestlers placing were Huntingdon's Luke Mykut (third, 145) and Elliot Tomasiello (sixth, 125), Tussey Mountain's Kaden Husick (fifth, 105) and Ridge's Dexter Ward (seventh, 100).
C-K's Aunnika Imler (sixth, 63), Central's Arianna Miller (seventh, 145) and Northern Bedford's Kaylynn Hall (eighth, 65) were medalists in the girls 11-12 age division.
In the boys 9-10 group, other medalists included Tyrone's Garrett Ciampoli (fourth, 90), Central Cambria's Grayson Rakar (fifth, 85), Juniata Valley's John Boyd (fifth, 95), Glendale's Conrad Simmers (sixth, 120) and Altoona's Sammy Yerty (eighth, 70).
Regionally in the division, Chestnut Ridge's Benton Alt (95) took fourth, while Huntingdon's Jayden Householder (60) placed seventh.
Northern Bedford's Harper Boyd placed sixth at 68 in the girls 9-10 group. P-O's Myla McCully was fifth at 120.
Tyrone had a couple medalists in the boys 7-8 age group in Vincent Ciampoli (fifth, 60) and Levi Vanallman (eighth, 74). Bedford's Ezra Turkovich won a title at 110 in the division, while Tussey Mountain's Landon Melius (90) was fourth.
In the girls 7-8 group, Bishop Carroll's Peyton Strittmatter (50) was fourth while Northern Bedford's Gabby Verdiglione (75) was eighth. Huntingdon's Hayleigh Morder won a title at 88 pounds.
In the boys 6-under age division, Tyrone's Xzavior Weston was seventh at 61. Chestnut Ridge's had two fourth-placers in Easton Hillegass (46) and Liam Weyandt (56), a fifth-placer in Niko Burkett (46) and an eighth-placer in Payden Berger (61). Tussey Mountain's Ashton Little (41) was seventh.
The PJW Youth State Championships will be held this upcoming weekend at the Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh.
