MECHANICSBURG -- The Altoona Area High School girls track and field team opened the season with wins over Chambersburg (87-63) and Cumberland Valley (104-46) on Tuesday.
Hailey Kravetz won both hurdles races, Ashlynn Noce won the 1600- and 3200-meter runs, Triumph Kilmartin placed first in the high and triple jumps, and Kihlee Noel won the shot put and discus.
The Altoona boys fell to CV, 95-55, and Chambersburg, 112-37.

BEDFORD -- Chloe May broke school records in the 1600 and 3200 runs to lead the Bedford girls to wins over Bishop Carroll (135-14) and Bishop McCort (147-1).
The Bedford boys topped BC, 118-31, and McCort, 125-21. BC beat McCort, 76-37 in the boys, and 66-34 in the girls.
May, Autumn Becker, Jillian Beck, Rachel Weber and Ava Sipes each won two events for the Bedford girls, and Cameron Beck, AJ Koontz and Carson Lynch won two for the boys.
Eli Cunningham won the long and triple jumps for the BC boys.

SIDMAN -- The Central Cambria boys downed Chestnut Ridge, 77-73, and Forest Hills, 80-70, behind wins in the 800, 1600 and 3200 runs by Dom Kuntz. FH topped Ridge, 84-66.
Other winners for the CC boys were Tanner Archangelo (400), Dom Micco (discus), Hunter Pittsinger (shot), Ian Estep (long jump) and Carter Heeney (javelin).
The Lady Devils beat Ridge, 82-66, but lost to Forest Hills, 107-43. The Forest Hills girls topped Ridge, 119-30. Alaina Sheehan won the 800 and 1600 runs for CC, Morgan Brandis won the 3200 run, and Lola Taylor placed first in the 200 dash.
Tyrone boys win 3
TYRONE -- Andrew Weaver won the high jump and triple jump, and Aiden Detwiler won the 800 and 1600 runs to help the Tyrone boys beat Philipsburg-Osceola, 129-19, Westmont Hilltop, 122-27, and Somerset 97-53. The Tyrone girls beat P-O, 97-47, and WH, 93-57, but fell to Somerset, 88-62.

JOHNSTOWN -- The Penn Cambria girls beat Johnstown, 79-34, but fell to Richland, 105-38. The Richland girls beat Johnstown, 120-18.
PC's Chloe Karabinos won the 100 dash, and Kyra Vinglish won the javelin.
The Penn Cambria boys topped Johnstown, 124-10, but fell to Richland, 104-41. The Richland boys beat Johnstown, 137-7. PC's Josh Stolarski won the 100 dash (11.4) and 400 dash (51.1), and Carter McDermott won the long jump (20-3) and triple jump (41-1).
Portage girls win
PORTAGE -- The Portage girls squeaked out a 71-69 win over United with Cami Burkett winning the 100, 200 and 400 dashes.
Portage's Alex Chobany won the 800 and 1600 runs, and Brooke Bednarski won the long and triple jumps.
United won the boys meet, 92-58. Bode Layo won the shot put and discus for the Portage boys.
