Altoona gymnasts win another CPL title

ST. MARYS -- The Altoona Area High School gymnastics team captured the Central Pa. League championships on Friday night, thanks to a score of 144.175 points.
DuBois finished second with 130.7 points while St. Marys was third with 125.625 points.
Claire Piper won the vault (9.775) and the floor (9.55). She finished second in the all-around (36.4). Abby Donlan won the bars (9.25) and was third in the vault (9.075). Maddy Pastore finished first in the beam (9.45) and second in the floor (9.17).
Lauren Stroka of DuBois won the all-around (36.425). Emma Bettwy of Altoona was third in the all-around (36.35).
Altoona finished the regular season at 10-0 and will now compete next Saturday, Feb. 17, at the Pennsylvania Classic State Meet at Moon High School near Pittsburgh.
