CC swim team garners two wins over Altoona

EBENSBURG -- The Central Cambria High School swimming teams swept Altoona Area in a dual meet on Wednesday.

Alex Burns won the 50-yard freestyle and 100 butterfly for the Central Cambria boys in their 90-72 win. Altoona received double wins from Christopher Fox (200 freestyle, 100 freestyle) and Trevor Wilson (200 individual medley, 100 breaststroke).

Lindsey Hodge placed first in the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly, and Maggie McCullough won the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke in the Lady Red Devils' 117-50 win. Alexis Fraundorfer won the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke for the Altoona girls.

AAHS still perfect

The Altoona gymnastics team kept their perfect record intact with a 143.25-120.3 win over DuBois at the Altoona Area High School Fieldhouse.

Claire Piper won the vault, bars and the all-around for the Lady Lions, now 7-0, while teammates Abby Donlan took the team and Maddy Pastore the floor in leading the team to its highest point total this season.

EBENSBURG -- Central Cambria got wins from Deklan Estep at 160 and David Schweitzer at 189 in a 58-12 loss to Forest Hills in high school wrestling.

The Rangers picked up six forfeit victories.

Portage triumphs

The Portage rifle team improved its record to 5-7 with a 1,280-1,208 win over Berlin Brothersvalley in high school play.

The Mustangs got a 266 from Brady Cochran while teammate Jonah Irvin added a 262.

Berlin was led by Samantha Hayman's 263.
