BELLWOOD -- Bellwood-Antis athletic director Charlie Burch is calling for any members of the 1973-1974 Blue Devil boys basketball team, or people with knowledge of the players from that team's whereabouts, to reach out to him at cnb@blwd.k12.pa.us.
Bellwood is planning to honor the team, which finished 22-0 and won the Juniata Valley League, on Friday, Jan. 12 at halftime of the Blue Devil boys home game against Juniata Valley, and would like to have as many members of the team present as possible.
The team was led by head coach Michael Sakash and assistant coach Greg Perry and included Michael Moses, Lee Gingery, Ted McClellan, Bruce Clark, Daryl Nearhoof, Joe DelGrosso, Thomas Otto, Carl Crider, Dean Shaffer, Gary Hribik and Calvin Shoenberger.
Dragons triumph
Central picked up four falls and one technical fall in a 47-24 win over Richland Wednesday night in high school wrestling action.
The Scarlet Dragons got the pins from Kaden Horn (133), Thaide Mickel (145), John Pulcine (189) and Brooks Matthews (107). Cody Clapper delivered the technical fall win at 160.
