The Altoona Area High School ice hockey team jumped out to a 2-0 first-period lead Tuesday night en route to a 6-2 win over Conemaugh Valley at Galactic Ice.
The Mountain Lions got six goals from six different players: Cayden Helsel, Sam Kauffman, Noah Staines, Chris Kozminski, Ryan Marinak and Carter Panick. Goalie Seth Conrad stopped 15 of the 17 shots he faced in aiding the Mountain Lion victory.
Logan Lambertus scored both goals for the Rams, who were out-shot, 50-19.
The two teams will play again on Jan. 25 at the 1st Summit Cambria County War Memorial Arena.

Carroll triumphs
GALLITZIN -- The Bishop Carroll rifle team improved to 3-6 on Monday afternoon with a 1,222-1,215 win over Northern Cambria at the Gallitzin Sportsmen's Club.
Karli Shoop led the Huskies with a 254 while Seth Cunningham was second at 251. Northern Cambria got a 263 from Anna Griffiths and a 255 from Anthony Falduto.
The Huskies compete today against Rockwood.
