Northern eliminated
DAVIDSVILLE -- The Northern Bedford girls soccer team's season came to an end with a 10-1 loss to Conemaugh Township in the District 5 Class 1A semifinals.
Northern finished the season 13-7, while Conemaugh Township will face Windber in the finals.
"Our girls had a nice season,'' Northern coach Marcus Yeatts said. "We lost some excellent players from last year's 18-win team, but our seniors were great leaders and our younger kids stepped up. We got back to the district semifinal, and hopefully can build on this in the future."
Izzy Slezak and Ashlyn Fetterman each had hat tricks for Township, and Matty Mauzy scored twice. Ava Helsel scored Northern's goal on an assist from Mariah Hall.
"This game got away from us in the first half,'' Yeatts said. "Conemaugh Township is a really good team, and we had trouble with this matchup the first time we played them also. We had won eight of nine coming into tonight, but we were just overmatched.''
