Lady Spikers knock off State College at Fieldhouse

The Altoona Area High School girls volleyball team knocked off State College, 26-24, 25-18, 21-25, 26-24, at the AAHS Fieldhouse on Monday night.

Altoona, which evened its record at 6-6, received seven kills and 15 digs from Ava Steinbugl, seven kills from Ella Albright, six kills from Ellaina Saylor, 37 digs and 10 service points from Aunye Counsman, 16 assists and 10 service points from Sami Page and four blocks from Megan Kelly.

SPRING MILLS -- Hollidaysburg improved to 14-1 with a 25-12, 25-17, 25-18 win over Penns Valley.

Lucy Stanek recorded her 500th kill and finished with seven for the night, Lexi McLanahan had 21 digs, and Addi Basenback had 10 kills.

CC sweeps River Valley

EBENSBURG -- Summer Koss collected 15 service points, with four aces, and 20 assists to help Central Cambria knock off River Valley, 26-24, 25-19, 25-19.

Erica Brouse had 22 service points, 11 digs and five kills for the Lady Red Devils, Morgan Sedor had 12 kills, and Maggie McCullough added 11 digs and four kills.

JV: River Valley, 25-14, 25-19.

JV tops St. Joe's

BOALSBURG -- Juniata Valley recorded a 25-16, 23-25, 25-16, 25-10 victory over Saint Joseph's to even its record at 7-7.

Kassidy Watson delivered 10 kills and three blocks for the Lady Hornets, Selena Sunderland had 17 assists, Shawnee Bishop contributed 23 service points, Braelyn Hall had 47 digs, and Ellie Manyara added nine kills.

Portage wins

PORTAGE -- Portage knocked off Penns Manor, 25-8, 25-18, 26-24, on a night when Brooke Bednarski and Trissa Smith were recognized for 500 career digs and Paige Phillips for 500 kills.

Bednarski had 17 assists and seven kills, Smith had 14 assists, eight kills and 12 digs, and Annie Davis had eight kills.

PORTAGE: Willinsky 15, Bednarski 12, Davis 10, Smith 10, Crum 7, Phillips 7, Harrison 4.
