ALEXANDRIA -- The Juniata Valley High School girls volleyball team kept its season alive by rolling past Moshannon Valley, 25-13, 25-17, 25-15, in the District 6 Class 1A first-round playoffs on Thursday.
Juniata Valley, the No. 7 seed, will now play at No. 2 seed Homer-Center on Monday in the quarterfinals.
Ellie Manyara delivered 15 kills for the Lady Hornets, Kassidy Watson had seven kills, Selena Sunderland had 26 assists, Maddie Hopsicker contributed three blocks, and Braelyn Hall added eight digs.

Tigers triumph
In high school ice hockey play Thursday, Hollidaysburg defeated Richland, 4-1, thanks in part to a goal and an assist by Porter Weise in a game played at Galactic Ice.
Ty Burket, Jared Smith and Carson Young added goals for the Tigers, who improved to 2-0.
