New Oxford wins title
The New Oxford girls tennis team captured the team title in the 2023 Altoona Mountain Lion Tennis Invitational on Friday at Mansion Park.
New Oxford players won each of the five flights as well.

Sled hockey event set
The Sitting Bulls Disabled Sled Hockey team will host the Northeast Sled Hockey League tournament the weekend of Sept. 23-24 at Galactic Ice.
Four teams will participate in the weekend games. Players will be in the Greater Johnstown and Altoona areas for a weekend of adult competitive disabled sled hockey. Teams participating will also come from Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and Columbus, Ohio.
Each team will play four games during the weekend. The Sitting Bulls play Saturday at 10 a.m. against the Pittsburgh Mighty Penguins. The local team will also play at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and on Sunday at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
The Sitting Bulls Sled Hockey program locally supports two teams -- a youth novice team for younger and newer players and the adult intermediate team for older and more experienced disabled sled hockey players. Players range in age from 6-60 for the two programs

ROARING SPRING -- The team of Wally Clapper and Benji Heeter defeated Randy Jarratt and Dirk Ormsby in Men's League action at the Iron Masters Country Club.
Finishing third was the team of Ken Emigh and Bud Hetrick.

Wayne Oldham sank a hole-in-one while playing golf at the King Valley Golf Course.
He made the shot, his first-ever, on No. 6 using a 7-iron. It was witnessed by Chad Mickey, Dave Price and Austin Crocker.
