CRESSON -- Central senior Griffin Snowberger edged Tyrone's R.J. Royer by one stroke to win the Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference's individual boys championship at the Summit Country Club on Thursday.

Snowberger carded a 74, and Royer had a 75.

Jack Muldoon shot a 76 to finish third and lead Central Cambria to the team championship. The Red Devils were one of three LHAC section champions that competed in Thursday's event as a team, and they topped runner-up Hollidaysburg, 322-340. Bishop McCort was third with a 347.

"We are so excited to win the LHAC championship in the first year of the expansion," Central Cambria coach Keith Gilkey said. "There were so many great high school golfers here today. Congratulations to all of the medalists from the various schools. I was so proud of our guys for bringing their 'A' games today. Jack Muldoon finished third overall with a 76 and our No. 5 golfer Jake Kirsch medaled with an 80. Tony Benko, Austin Semelsberger and Karter Cuppett rounded out our team. All five guys finished in the 70s and 80s which is crazy. We hope this gives some momentum heading into sectionals and districts."

Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic's Brody Partner-Gore and Josh Topper tied for fourth with 77.

There was a four-way tie for sixth at 80 between Central Cambria's Jake Kirsch, Central's Nick Baum, Bellwood-Antis' Ethan Johnston and Forest Hills' Elijah Sorchilla.

In all, there were 67 boys from 20 different schools competing in the event.
