Freshman’s big day garners league title

Hollidaysburg freshman Crosby Denis dominated the Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference Girls Golf Championship on Tuesday at Park Hills Golf Club.
Denis shot a round of 79 to win by 20 strokes. Hollidaysburg's Alexis Peacock and Central Cambria's Jazmine Boland tied for second with 99s.
Hollidaysburg's Lucy Carles was tied for fourth with a 100, and Bishop Carroll's Kylee Yoder was sixth with a 103.

STATE COLLEGE -- Altoona split its meet with State College and Cumberland Valley on Tuesday at Toftrees, beating CV (425-427) while losing to the Little Lions (408-427) in boys high school action.
Krieghoff Cumming led Altoona (6-3-1) with a 77, which is what State (27-2) got out of A.J. Corson (77). Carson Twigg led CV (10-17) with an 82.

Bishop Guilfoyle's Nick Helsley was the medalist with a 75. Central's Nick Baum shot a 76.
