Altoona boys golf edges Central

ROARING SPRING -- Despite a 72 from Central medalist Griff Snowberger, the Altoona boys golf team edged the Scarlet Dragons, 410-412, at the Iron Masters Country Club on Thursday.

Krieghoff Cumming led Altoona with a 78. Landon Baker added a 79. Nick Baum shot a 77 for Central.

Marauders fall

CHERRY TREE -- Bishop Guilfoyle got a 37 from Nick Helsley in a 204-222 loss to Northern Cambria at the Chetremon Golf Course.

Brady Houser medaled for the Colts with a 34. BG dropped to 19-7. Northern Cambria evened up its record at 8-8.

BLAIRSVILLE -- Jake Pynos shot a 35 to lead River Valley past Penn Cambria, 212-242, at the Chestnut Ridge Golf Course.

Penn Cambria got a 42 from Zack Martynuska.

Hampton leads P-O

CRESSON -- Maddox Hampton fired a 49 to lead Philipsburg-Osceola past Penn Cambria, 155-182, in girls high school action at the Summit Country Club.

Kiya Thomas led the Lady Panthers with a 59. Bellwood-Antis' top golfer was Kyle Yoder (51) while Leigha Clapper led Bishop Carroll with a 67.

B-A and Carroll do not have enough golfers to field a team for a team score.

HOLLIDAYSBURG -- The Hollidaysburg girls tennis team improved to 6-0 Thursday, thanks to a 5-0 win over Huntingdon in high school action.

Regan McKee, Grace Muriceak and CeCe Williams earned singles wins while the teams of Olivia Panaro-Emma Moritz, along with Lily Grosser-Meghan Nelson, got doubles victories.

SINGLES: 1, McKee (H) def. Williams, 6-2, 6-3; 2, Muriceak, H, def. Guisler, 6-0, 6-0; 3, Williams, H, def. McBrayer, 6-0, 6-0.

WINDBER -- Bishop Guilfoyle picked up its first win, a 4-1 decision at Windber, in girls high school tennis.

The Lady Marauders (1-5) got singles wins out of Ella McClellan, LP Koelle and Isabella Harris.

The doubles team of Kaitlyn Link and Nina Gingrich also were victorious.

Central beats rival

MARTINSBURG -- Central improved to 5-3 with a 5-0 win over Tyrone in girls high school tennis.

The Lady Dragons got singles wins from Julia Ritchey, Brooklyn Coppersmith and Ashley Renner, while the doubles victories were earned by Zoe Grill-Kate Dunn and Breslyn Beech-Taryn Walters.

With the loss, Tyrone dropped to 2-5 on the season.
