INDIANA -- The Altoona boys soccer team opened the 2023 season on Friday with a 3-1 win over DuBois in the Indiana Tournament in high school action.
Ian Long had two goals to go with two assists from Connor Adams. Luke Mitchell stopped shots for the Mountain Lions.

Lady Lions fall
The Altoona girls soccer team opened their season on Friday afternoon at Mansion Park, falling to North Allegheny, 11-3, in high school action.
Abigail Steger, a University of Kentucky commit, scored five goals for North Allegheny, which led, 7-1, at halftime. Teammates Abby Land and Keiran Shannon each added two goals.
Altoona got a goal each from Hailey Kravetz, Alli Little and Sophie O'Dea. Keepers Aubrey Dietzel and Zaelinh Nguyen-Moore combined for 13 saves for the Lady Lions.

Lady Bears triumph
ORBISONIA -- Great Commission opened its season with a 9-3 win at Southern Huntingdon in a game from Thursday night.
Kira Suhoney and Lily Hildebrand each scored two goals for the Lady Bears, who led 5-0 at halftime.
