Freshman captures girls tourney at ECC

EBENSBURG -- Hollidaysburg's Crosby Denis won the girls portion of the Ebensburg Country Club's High School Invitational Monday.
Denis, a freshman, shot an 84, four strokes better than runner-up Sophia Buday of Westmont Hilltop.
On the boys side, West Shamokin's Alex Talmadge and Conemaugh Township's Sam Sharbaugh shared the individual title by both shooting a 74. Central Cambria's Austin Semelsberger was third one stroke back at 75.
Semelsberger's teammate, Karter Cuppett, tied with Altoona's Krieghoff Cumming in sixth place with a score of 78. Cambria Heights golfer Ian Nagle was eighth with a 79.
Altoona also got top-15 finishes from Wyatt Young (10th, 81) and Landon Baker (tied for 11th, 83).
Penn Cambria's Zack Martynuska shot 84 and tied for 15th, and Bishop Guilfoyle's Nick Helsley tied for 18th with an 86.
Luke Repko was Bishop Carroll's top finisher, tied for 24th, with a 90, and Jonah Irvin was Portage's top golfer with a 91, which tied him for 27th.
On the girls side, Central Cambria's Jazmine Boland shot 96 and was fourth, and Altoona's Ella Filer was sixth with a 99. Central Cambria's Jemma Sikora and Portage's Bailey Patalune tied for seventh.

Tigers win five
PHILIPSBURG -- Hollidaysburg topped five other teams at a Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference golf match at the Philipsburg Elks with a team score of 318.
The Golden Tigers bested Bellefonte, Bald Eagle Area, Clearfield, Philipsburg-Osceola and Huntingdon. Penns Valley did not have four golfers to compile a team score.
Isaac Miller's 77 was tops for the Golden Tigers and second overall to the Red Raiders' Isaak Bloom's 76.
Mason Goodman and Troy Allen both carded 80s for Hollidaysburg.
