Altoona opens season with victory

The Altoona and Hollidaysburg boys golf teams opened the season on Monday at the Park Hills Country Club with the Mountain Lions winning, 404-418.
Altoona was led by Landon Baker with a 77, thanks to a 37 on the front nine. Krieghoff Cumming was second at 78.
The Golden Tigers got a 77 from Keegan Hockey, who shot a 35 on the back nine. Dominic Battisti was second with an 84.

Portage goes 1-2
BLAIRSVILLE -- Portage opened its season going 1-2, beating Northern Cambria while losing to River Valley and West Shamokin at the Chestnut Ridge Golf Resort.
Portage finished at 228, thanks to a 38 from Jonah Irvin and a 45 from Logan Gentile. River Valley finished first with a 209, thanks to Jake Pynos' 35.
West Shamokin was second at 210 behind a 33 from Alex Talmadge. Northern Cambria totaled a 237. Brady Hauser led with a 35.
