The Altoona Area High School girls volleyball team opened its season Wednesday night with a 25-19, 25-13, 25-15 win over Penn Cambria at the AAHS Fieldhouse.
Sydney Stroup had 14 kills for the Lady Lions to go with 24 assists from Sami Page and 20 from Jorja Treece. Aunye Counsman added 13 digs.

Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic evened its record at 1-1 with a 25-15, 25-14, 25-14 victory over Saint Joseph's at the Pleasant Valley Gym.
Annalise Casillo delivered 15 kills for BG, and Sam Brandt had 10 assists and six kills.

THREE SPRINGS -- Juniata Valley knocked off Southern Huntingdon in four sets, 25-16, 25-15, 25-27, 25-22 on the road.
Kassidy Watson collected 16 service points, including seven aces, 11 kills and two blocks, Ellie Manyara had 11 kills, Braelyn Hall had 24 digs, and Samatha Bishop added 19 assists.
