Winning pitcher Connor Blough tossed 3ª innings of one-hit relief Saturday afternoon at Mansion Park to lead the Altoona Area High School baseball team to a 9-6 victory over DuBois.
Blough struck out seven and walked no one, and also added two hits and an RBI as Altoona improved its record to 8-10.
DuBois (7-10), which trailed 5-0 after two innings, got a two-run double from Drew Cook.

Mosely 2nd in shot
CHAMBERSBURG -- The Altoona girls finished 20th, and the boys were 21st in the Mid-Penn Track and Field Championships on Saturday at Chambersburg Area High School.
Altoona's Bron Mosely finished second in the boys shot put with a throw of 50 feet, 1 inch.
Altoona's Reese Wilber placed fourth in the girls 1600-meter run with a time of 5 minutes, 14.10 seconds, and Kihlee Noel was fifth in the girls shot put with a 34-6.5.
The Hershey girls and Chambersburg boys were the team champions.
The Best day
FLINTON -- Riley Best drove in seven runs on three hits Saturday to lead the Glendale High School softball team to a 13-3 win in five innings over Mount Union.
Best hit two home runs as the Lady Vikings (17-3), who scored nine runs in the first inning.
Winning pitcher Madison Peterson also had three hits and an RBI to go with two RBIs from Kaprice Cavalet.

DuBOIS -- The Altoona softball team scored three runs in the top of the seventh to tie it at 5-5, but DuBois scored one in the bottom of the seventh to win it, 6-5.
The Mountain Lions got three hits and an RBI from Grace Glasgow to go with two hits and two RBIs from Gracie Wilt. Teammate Kaya Sprankle added two hits and an RBI.
Altoona, which trailed 3-1 after three, fell to 1-17. DuBois improved to 12-3.

PITTSBURGH -- The Altoona Area High School boys volleyball team competed at the Shaler Invitational on Saturday where the Mountain Lions finished fifth out of nine teams.
In morning pool play, Altoona split with Saegertown (21-25, 25-20) and lost to Shaler (25-19, 25-19). In the afternoon, Altoona split with Norwin (23-25, 25-20) and lost to Meadville (25-12, 25-20).
In the playoffs, Altoona lost 25-10 to Shaler.
Garrett Baumgartner led Altoona with 10 kills and 19 digs to go with 10 kills from Landen Fisher and 23 digs and eight kills out of Noah Fries.
Teammate Sam Kessinger totaled 42 assists and 20 digs while Jack Hartman contributed 15 digs.

Dragons shut out
CORAOPOLIS -- Central's boys volleyball team went 0-9 at the Our Lady of Sacred Heart Tournament on Saturday.
The Scarlet Dragons lost to Mount Lebanon (27-26, 25-19), Ambridge (25-11, 25-20), West Shamokin (25-11, 27-25), Sacred Heart (25-21, 25-16) and Armstrong (25-5).
Christian Heuston led Central with 11 kills and four blocks to go with 11 digs, eight kills and four blocks from Christian Cherry.
Teammate Logan Hummel contributed 34 assists to go with 21 digs and eight kills from Bryson Brooks.
