Hollidaysburg rallies from huge deficit to win

HOLLIDAYSBURG -- The Hollidaysburg Area High School baseball team rallied back from a 6-0 deficit and edged Penns Valley, 7-6, on a walk-off wild pitch on Monday.

With two outs in the bottom of the seventh and trailing 6-5, Hollidaysburg's Jake Hileman walked and eventually scored on an EJ Ulery single. Connor McCrystal, who was courtesy running for Derek Clapper, then scored on a wild pitch to win the game.

Matt Smith homered for the Tigers, Ulery drove in two runs, and Isaac Miller delivered a pinch-hit RBI double in the bottom of the sixth. Landon Perry earned the win, striking out seven.

Heights rallies

PATTON -- Mitchell Elias' walk-off bases-load hit drove in Zane Miller to complete a six-run bottom of the seventh inning and lift Cambria Heights to an improbable 13-12 win over Conemaugh Valley.

Garrett Jasper had a two-run double in the seventh, and Luke Mulraney drilled a two-run homer in the fifth inning.

Miller had three hits and four RBIs, and Ty Stockley had two hits and three RBIs.

Altoona loses

STATE COLLEGE -- State College jumped out to a 7-0 lead after two innings and went on to defeat Altoona, 8-3, in the Mountain Lions season opener.

Winning pitcher Jack Messina struck out 11 in four innings of work. He also had three hits and an RBI.

Altoona got a two-run double from Connor Lindsey.

Guilfoyle triumphs

JOHNSTOWN -- Austin Beauchamp gave up just two earned runs over six innings of work in Bishop Guilfoyle's 6-4 win at Bishop McCort.

Beauchamp struck out eight and walked just one for BG (1-1). Teammate Cooper Rother added three hits and two RBIs.
