Seven wrestlers from the Mirror coverage area were named top seeds for the District 6 Class 2A and 3A tournaments in the respective seeding meetings on Monday night at The Bullpen in Tyrone.
The tournaments will share the Altoona Fieldhouse on Saturday for the first time this year. The District 6 Class 2A Tournament begins at 10 a.m. on Friday. It resumes at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, along with a few Class 3A quarterfinals.
There are only six teams in Class 3A this season.
Altoona's Braiden Weaver (107) and Luke Sipes (152) and Hollidaysburg's Carson Krupka (114) are top seeds in Class 3A. Sipes, of course, is a returning District 6 champion.
Tyrone's Korry Walls (107), Penn Cambria's Trent Hoover (145), Glendale's Zeke Dubler (160) and Central Cambria's Karter Quick (215) were named No. 1 seeds in Class 2A. Hoover and Dubler are returning champions, while Walls and Braden Ewing, who is seeded third at 285, are returning runners-up.
The top six wrestlers in Class 2A at each weight class qualify for the Southwest Regional Tournament, which is March 3-4 at the AAHS Fieldhouse.
The top three in each weight in Class 3A advance to next weekend's Northwest Regional at the Fieldhouse.
Altoona's Nick Irwin (114), Phillip Sarbo (121) and Caleb Fasick (127) are seeded second. Hollidaysburg's Logan Krupka (107), Mitchell Baronner (160) and Rally Hoover (215) and Altoona's Evan Boose (189) are seeded third.
Tyrone's Logan Rumberger (121), Lukas Walk (139) and Kyle Scott (172) are No. 2 seeds, as are Glendale's Britton Spangle (189) and Daniel Williams (285), Penn Cambria's Mason Raymond (215) and Huntingdon 160-pounder and Williamsburg student Andrew McMonagle.
Tyrone's Andrew Weaver (160) and Penn Cambria'a Braedan Oravecz (189) are seeded third, while PC's Austin McCloskey (160) is fourth. Bellwood-Antis' Ethan Norris (285) is seeded fifth.
Central's Ty Biesinger (114), Juniata Valley's Lucas Dick (133), Claysburg-Kimmel's Cole Claycomb (145), Glendale's George Campbell (152) and Penn Cambria's Nick Summerville (285) are seeded sixth.
The first day of the Class 2A tournament end scheduled to end with the quarterfinals and third round of consolations.
The semifinals of both classifications are set for 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
The championship finals and third-place bouts will all be wrestled in the final session, which starts at approximately 7 p.m.
