Ridge dominates tourney

JOHNSTOWN -- Chestnut Ridge won the District 5 Class 2A team championship for the 12th year in a row Saturday at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown.
Dom Deputy, Easton Mull, Kobi Burkett, Calan Bollman and Sam Albright won District 5 individual titles. It was Bollman's fourth straight championship.
Northern Bedford's Eion Snider won the District 5 individual title at the 172-pound weight class with a major decision, 10-0, over Ridge's Alex Crist. Snider received a bye in the first round and pinned his first two opponents.
"It felt like I had accomplished one of the many goals I've been working for all year, and it's going to give me confidence moving forward," Snider said. "I feel like I started out slow and then gained confidence as the matches progressed, but I can always improve."
Fellow Black Panthers Wyatt Clouse (114), Tyler Paris (160) and Brock Beach (285) finished as runners-up. Austin Bartholow placed third at 145 and also qualified for regionals at Altoona Area High School this weekend.
"I'm hoping to get revenge for some losses and earn a trip to Hershey," Snider said.
Bedford's Kross Cassidy (133) and Tussey Mountain's Ezra Masood (160) also won District 5 titles.
