BEDFORD -- Chestnut Ridge leads the Thomas Automotive Tournament after the first night Friday in high school wrestling at the Bedford Area High School.
Ridge has 123 team points, and Clearfield sits in second place with 117.5 in the 32-team field.
Northern Bedford is currently 18th, Penn Cambria is 19th, Central is 27th, Central Cambria is 29th, Cambria Heights is 32nd.
Advancing to the semifinals from the Mirror's core coverage area are Northern Bedford's Brock Beach (285 pounds) and Eion Snider (172), Penn Cambria's Trent Hoover (145), Central Cambria's Karter Quick (215) and Central's Ty Biesinger (114).
Chestnut Ridge has eight wrestlers in the semifinals -- Dominic Deputy (107), Easton Mull (114), Brock Holderbaum (121), Carter Wharton (121), Kobi Burkett (127), Mason Weyant (133), Calan Bollman (145) and Sam Albright (152).
Others from the area in the semifinals are Huntingdon's Devin Grubb (152), Andrew McMonagle (160) and Gunner Singleton (285), Bedford's Kross Cassidy (133) and Everett's Zach Winck (215).
5 in Warrior semis
MORRISDALE -- Five wrestlers from the Mirror coverage area advanced to the semifinals of the 42-team Ultimate Warrior Tournament at West Branch High School on Friday night.
Altoona's Luke Sipes advanced at 152 pounds, and Braiden Weaver moved on at 107.
Tyrone has three wrestlers in the semifinals -- Korry Walls at 107, Logan Rumberger at 121 and Braden Ewing at 285.
