JC volleyball in Division III finale

PITTSBURGH -- The Juniata College women's volleyball team advanced to the NCAA Division III national championship game on Thursday night, thanks to a 25-15, 22-25, 25-11, 25-23 win over Northwestern (Minn) College at the UPMC Fieldhouse on the campus of Duquesne University.

Juniata will play Trinity University out of San Antonio, Texas at 7 p.m. Saturday night. Juniata's lone loss this season is to Trinity as the Lady Eagles sport a 30-1 record.

Trinity beat New York University in its semifinal match on Thursday.

The Lady Eagles were led by Olivia Foley, who totaled 40 assists and 18 digs. Kiona Sky Rousset-Hernandez added 17 digs and six assists to go with 12 digs from McKenna Walker.

Lily Podolan had 16 service points to go with 14 from Kennedy Christy and 12 from Audrey Muth. Mackenzie Coley contributed 11 more.

Other teams who made it to the Elite Eight along with Juniata, Trinity, NYU and Northwestern included Hope College, Johns Hopkins, MIT and Transylvania University out of Kentucky.
