EVERETT -- Mahlen Gunby scored twice, and Parker Ramsey and Macyn Klotz each added a goal as Everett ended Northern Bedford's season in the District 5 Class 1A quarterfinals in boys high school soccer action Thursday night.
Collin Yeatts scored three goals for Northern Bedford. Yeatts finished his season with 51 goals and his career with 110.
"I am really proud of our kids," Northern Bedford coach Marcus Yeatts said. "We are dealing with a lot of injuries, and a lot of kids were playing through them because it is playoffs. They fought through the whole game. Collin hurt his knee last week and hadn't really been able to practice. He scored three goals, but he was not at 100 percent tonight. It was a tough way for our season to end, but our kids played hard."

Ridge eliminated
BEDFORD -- Bedford ended Chestnut Ridge's boys soccer season in the District 5 Class 2A semifinals with a 6-0 victory.
"We had to play with a defensive mindset against them," Chestnut Ridge coach Nate Ricthey said. "If we got into an up-and-down match with them, then we had absolutely no chance. So, we packed our defense in and limited them to a lot of shots outside the 18. That made a difference in keeping the score down."
Bedford will take on Somerset, which defeated Forbes Road, in the District 5 final.
"Effort was and never is the issue with our team," Ritchey said. "We strive to honor and glorify God with our effort and attitude. We have moments where we don't execute as well as we need to. Tonight, they scored a few off corner kicks and a direct kick, and that hurt us."
