JV Spikers win title
SIDMAN -- Altoona's junior varsity girls volleyball team went 13-0 and topped host Forest Hills, 25-18, 25-17, to win the JV Ranger Classic on Saturday.
Ava Steinbugl had 27 kills, 24 digs and five aces, Eliaina Saylor added 24 kills, 27 digs and nine aces, and Jorja Treece had 77 assists, 21 digs and 14 aces for the Lady Spikers.
Altoona swept Bishop Guilfoyle, Philipsburg-Osceola, Richland and Portage in pool play, topped DuBois, 25-10, in the Gold Quarterfinals and knocked off Somerset, 25-16, 25-16, in the Gold semifinals.
