Image Signs captured the junior high boys championship at the Central Blair Recreation Commission’s Lakemont Summer Basketball final Thursday night, 40-26, with the help of 16 points from Noah Spahn.

It was a good night for the top seeds in the other divisions as Zimmerman Excavating & Landscaping (Division 1), Primerica Financial (Division 4) and Budget Beverage (Division 5) cruised to victories in their quarterfinal games.

Third-seeded Central knocked off second-seeded Huntingdon, 38-30, in the high school division semifinals, and top-seeded Altoona defeated Penn Cambria by forfeit. Central, which got a game-high 14 points from Eli Lingenfelter, will meet Altoona in the championship game on Wednesday at 6:20 p.m. on Court 1.

A pair of sixth-seeded teams upset No. 3 seeds.

In Division 4, G.T.B. got 19 points from Dean Grenfell in a 70-43 victory over Colton’s Cruisers, and in Division 5, Barton’s Plumbing & Heating defeated Sheetz, 50-35, with the help of 17 points from Matt Mazzara.

Other winners in Division 1 included fifth-seeded Mama Randazzo’s, which got 18 points from P.J. Charles and will play Zimmerman’s in Monday’s semifinals, and third-seeded Hoopsfest, which got 18 points from Drew Shubik and will take on second-seeded Spherion.

In Division 4, fourth-seeded Lytle’s Transfer and second-seeded Railroad City Tattoo advanced to Monday’s semifinals, and in Division 5, fourth-seeded Miller & Associates and second-seeded J.P. Mortage Lending also advanced.
