Alwine pitches Mountain Lions past Central Dauphin

Evan Alwine threw a complete-game four-hitter to lead Altoona past Mid-Penn Conference leader Central Dauphin, 4-2, Thursday afternoon in high school baseball at Mansion Park.

Alwine struck out seven, including one to end the game with two runners on base in the seventh.

Ethan Hileman paced Altoona -- which improved to 9-5 -- with three hits, while Lucas Muffie stroked two hits and drove in two.

Tyson Gill led Central Dauphin (11-4) with two hits.

Central takes two

BEDFORD -- Central outscored Bedford, 30-0, over the course of two games and improved to 17-0.

The Scarlet Dragons got a five-inning no-hitter and 11 strikeouts from Jonah Snowberger in the completion of a suspended game that they won 10-0. Paxton Kling had two hits and two RBIs, including the 100th hit of his career.

In the regularly scheduled game, the Dragons scored 12 runs in the fourth inning to win, 20-0.

Snowberger and Ty Helsel combined on a four-inning no-hitter, and Parker Gregg drove in four runs.
