Kamzik pitches, hits Lady Red Devils to victory

BEDFORD -- Kami Kamzik pitched a five-inning one-hitter and belted a two-run home run to lead unbeaten Central Cambria to a 12-1 win over Bedford in high school softball action on Wednesday.

Mia Ruddek and Jordan Krawcion each had two hits and scored two runs, and Aubrey Ruddek scored twice. Liz Marta had Bedford's only hit in the fifth inning.

Serafin, CH prevail

PATTON -- Jenna Serafin throw a three-hitter with 11 strikeouts, and Cambria Heights beat Northern Cambria, 6-1.

A home run from Maddie Bender and RBI doubles from Lexi Griak and Kenna Rogal gave the Highlanders the lead.

CLAYSBURG -- Claysburg-Kimmel improved to 9-0 with a twinbill sweep, a 12-2 win over Bellwood-Antis in five innings and a 17-5 win in five innings over Southern Fulton.

Against B-A, Emalee Cavender, Jenna Helsel and Hayden Lamborn each drove in two runs for the Lady Bulldogs, who led 9-0 after three innings. Cavender also got the win. She gave up one hit, struck out nine and walked one.

Hannah Waite and Carena Eamigh each drove in a run for B-A.

In the win over Southern Fulton, Cavender had four hits and two RBIs to go with three hits and four RBIs from Rebekah Claar. Sierra Walters contributed four hits and three RBIs, while teammate Bella Francona added three hits and two RBIs.

Walters got the win. She struck out eight and walked one.

JV gets sweep

ALEXANDRIA -- Williamsburg got swept by Juniata Valley in a doubleheder, losing 9-4 and 14-4.

In the 9-4 defeat, Kara Lansberry, who finished with two RBIs, and Kaelyn Calderwood each had two hits for the Lady Pirates, who gave up five runs combined in the fifth and sixth innings. Kendel Norris and Lansberry also homered.

In the 14-4 loss, Calderwood had three hits and two RBIs in a game in which Valley scored seven times in the sixth inning to mercy rule the Lady Pirates. Lansberry added two hits.

FLINTON -- Madison Peterson threw a three-inning no-hitter in Glendale's 20-0 win over Harmony.

Loss avenged

JOHNSTOWN -- Portage atoned for a Tuesday setback to Ferndale with a 12-2, six-inning win over the Lady Yellow Jackets.

Maryn Swank struck out nine to earn the win and also delivered two hits and two RBIs. Lydnsey Castel went 3-for-3 with two RBIs, and Kenna Redfern and Karli Karalfa each drove in a pair of runs.
