Cavender has memorable day

McCONNELLSBURG -- Emalee Cavender went 7-for-7 with a home run, three doubles and four RBIs in a doubleheader as Claysburg-Kimmel beat McConnellsburg, 11-0, and 12-0, in high school softball action on Monday.

Cavender also pitched three shutout innings.

Rebekah Claar, Nevaeh Walter and Jenna Helsel each drove in three runs in the opener, and Walter, Sierra Walters and Hayden Lamborn each drove in two in the nightcap.

Walters was the winning pitcher in both games.

Lynn leads Central

MARTINSBURG -- Lacey Lynn fired a complete-game two-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts and no walks as Central handed Westmont Hilltop its first loss, 1-0.

Bralyn Ellis scored the only run of the game in the bottom of the fifth inning. Westmont's Bailey Thornton also threw a two-hitter with eight strikeouts and no walks.

CC tops PC

CRESSON -- Kami Kamzik drove in three runs and also was the winning pitcher with 12 strikeouts in helping Central Cambria defeat Penn Cambria, 7-2.

Olivia Janosik collected two hits for CC, and Joanna Hoover had two hits for PC. Emily Hite drove in two runs for the Lady Panthers.

Serafin leads CH

PATTON -- Jenna Serafin fired a four-hitter with nine strikeouts in helping Cambria Heights edge River Valley, 4-1.

Rockets take off

LOYSBURG -- Deerin Davis doubled for Northern Bedford in the first game of a doubleheader, but the Lady Panthers fell, 10-3.

In the second game, the Lady Rockets scored 20 runs in the first inning en route to a 30-1 triumph over Northern Bedford.
