Northern Bedford's Jordyn Fouse, Chestnut Ridge's Patton Plummer and Camryn Steinbuch of Bedford will compete this weekend in the PA Girls High School State Wrestling Championships.
The event will be held at Central Dauphin High School in Harrisburg this Sunday.
Recently, the trio competed against nearly 200 other girls from around the state in regional wrestling tournaments. Plummer claimed gold by going 3-0 at her tournament. She got two pins and a major decision at 148 pounds.
Fouse also won the 130-pound title. She went 3-0 with a technical fall, a pin and a regular decision at her event. Steinbuch took fourth at 142 pounds, going 4-2 in her regional tournament. All four of her wins came by fall.
Currently, there are 35 high schools in the state who have approved and created high school girls wrestling programs.
Once the number reaches 100, it can become a sanctioned sport by the PIAA.
