The rosters for the Pennsylvania High School Football Coaches Association All-Star game for small schools was released on Thursday and the West team has members of the Bishop Guilfoyle and Bellwood-Antis team on it, as well as a local coach.
The game will be played on Sunday, May 29, at 5 p.m. at Bishop McDevitt's Rocco Ortenzio Stadium in Harrisburg. Playing for the West include Bishop Guilfoyle's Anthony Edwards, Deven Wyandt and P.J. Pollock, as well as Bellwood-Antis' Cooper Guyer and Dominic Caracciolo.
Penn Cambria coach Nick Felus is one of the assistants on head coach Brandon Bailey of Richland's staff.
Other District 6 players on the team include Richland's Kellan Stahl, Griffin LaRue, Aidan Thomas and Bald Eagle Area's Hunter McCool. Other notable names are Bedford's Mercury Swaim, Curwensville's Jake Mullins and Clearfield's Oliver Billotte and Karson Kline, along with Windber's Brady Russo and Keith Charney.
Football finalists
Two area high school football players are finalists for the Mr. PA Football 2021 award.
Central's Jeff Hoenstine and Bishop Guilfoyle's Karson Kiesewetter are among the football players from across the state vying for the title in Classes 1A-3A. They are two of six finalists in their classification.
The contest has fans voting for their favorite athlete in order to determine who will hold the distinction of being Mr. PA Football for the next year. The fans, media and coaches each represent one-third of the vote.
The virtual awards ceremony will be held on Saturday, March 12 at 6 p.m.
NBC contest held
The Northern Bedford boys and girls basketball programs sponsored a free throw and 3-point contest on Feb. 26 at the Northern Bedford County Elementary School.
There were 55 participants for the competition. Boys and girls competed in the free throw competition at the following age groups:
