Red Flash men run past Bucknell
LORETTO -- Ramiir Dixon-Conover spent most of his night carving through the Bucknell Bison defense for baskets off the glass on his way to a career-high 23 points to lead Saint Francis University past Bucknell University, 93-67, in non-conference men's basketball action on Wednesday.
Dixon-Conover was 10-for-16 from the floor, 2 of 5 from behind the arc and 1 of 2 at the free throw line on his way to his sixth 20-point performance of his career. Teammate Ronell Giles, Jr. added 13 points and Maxwell Land posted 10 points and five assists on the night.
Jeriah Coleman provided a huge lift on the night with a career-best seven points and seven rebounds, while local product Luke Ruggery also had a career-best nine points in the win.
"I thought the game made a turn for us when Luke Ruggery blocked out their big kid in the first half," SFU coach Rob Krimmel said. "He blocked the kid out, got the rebound and then we went on a run. That moment right there, you look at moments in a game where you can take off. Certainly, a good win, things that we did defensively allowed us to get into a rhythm offensively. I thought we got production from everybody."
Trailing 23-16 with 11:10 left in the first half, the Red Flash went on a 26-9 run to go into the locker room up 42-32. Josh Cohen had seven of his nine points in the run. Coleman was also a factor with five of his seven points on the night, while Dixon-Conover had six points in the spurt.
The Flash are at Ohio University on Saturday.
