Less than a week after the Phoenix Suns saw their bid for a first NBA title fall short, losing a six-game series to the Milwaukee Bucks, Hollidaysburg native and senior vice president of basketball operations Jeff Bower is leaving the team.

The Suns announced the move on Saturday.

"Jeff's impact on the franchise has been immeasurable," said Suns General Manager James Jones in a team news release. "He helped lay the foundation for our success. We are extremely thankful."

Bower joined the Suns in April 2019 when team owner Robert Sarver removed the interim GM tag from James Jones, who replaced Ryan McDonough days before the 2018-19 season began.

"I am grateful for the opportunity to have been part of the organization," said Bower, a 1979 graduate of Hollidaysburg Area High School, said in the news release. "We are proud of the progress and accomplishments achieved on the court over the past two seasons. I look forward to other opportunities and projects that are in the future."

Bower previously served as GM of the New Orleans Hornets and Detroit Pistons.
