UPMC Foundation holds scramble

HOLLIDAYSBURG — The UPMC Foundation for Life Golf Event took place at the Scotch Valley Country Club with four different tournaments over a three-day period.

The winner of the AM Group Tournament (June 22) was the team of Bob Bilger, Jim Foreman, Ric Sarfert and Shawn McCarl (52). Second place went to the team of Dave Andrews, Scott Andrews, Denny Stewart and Christine Koren (54) on a card off over Chris Nelson, Jim Reed, Chuck Meyers and Trent Meyers.

The winner of the AM Group Tournament (June 21) with a 52 was the team of Frank Frontino, Tony Nastasi, Ken Anderson and Ken Macha. Finishing second at 54 was the team of Jason Wagner, Bob Strawser, Mike Corso and Patrick Lundqvist. Taking third with a 55 was the team of Dan Casillo, Nick Casillo, Dan Eakins and Brian Hmel.

The winnerof the PM Group Tournament (June 21) on a cardoff at 58 was the team of Gary Raymond, Alex Raymond, Michael Koban and Brent Krug. Second-place honors went to Bob Cunningham, Steve Gavlak, Brad Schmidt and Josh Hampton. Taking third at 58 was George Zlupko, Kim Wilkes, Jason Oaks and Chris Wiedley.

The Sideline for Cancer Tournament was won by Kaleb Fleck, Levi Delozier, Grant Delozier and Danny Stubbs with a 55. They finished one stroke ahead of Erik Kozak, George Kozak, Trent Martin and Garrett Shaw. Third place was won by Terry Burgan, Charlie Harlen, Keith Saleme and Brian Hall at 57.

There were two mixed teams on the ladies side with two winners and two runnersup.

The team of Lisa Georgiana, Susan Robinson Fruchtl, Terry Goldstein and Jack Sahlaney (64) edged Jackie Lantzy, Katie Whysong, Jenny Beach and Cory Tubo (66). The team of Chris Sisto, Dianne Stewart, Tick Sheaffer and Peggy Smith (59) finished ahead of Kim McCarl, Roz Sky, Cindy Trimarco and Michelle Day (65).

Sylvan Hills

HOLLIDAYSBURG — The team of Lew Cessna and Curt Melton combined to shoot a 40 to win the low gross competition on Thursday Night League action at the Sylvan Hills Golf Club.

The low net winner was Stan Wojcik.

Closest to the pin honors were Mike Knorr (No. 2) and Bruno Felus (No. 4).

Cessna and Barry Criste are the league leaders after week 7 action.

In other action, Joe DeAntonio was the low gross winner of the Handicap Club Championship. Dave Johns was the low net winner.

Gary and Jason Zimmerman won the Father & Son Tournament. JP and JJ Stultz was second, followed by Don and Mark Boland.

In the Butch Focht Senior Golf League, the team of Jim Burke, Jim Brown, Dick Barefoot and Bill Blanset topped the runner-up team of Dave Johns, John Roland, Bob Gray and Rick Strasser by one stroke, 33-34.

Huntingdon CC

HUNTINGDON — The team of BIll Frazier and Larry Newton went 5-3 during week 8 action in the Big Orange Golf League at the Huntingdon Country Club.

Two teams — Ed Gargula and Gerry Huggler and Bob Lamey and Jim Lakso — went 4-4. Phil Thompson and Rick Bayer went 3-5.

Thompson was the low gross winner (37) while Larry Newton won the low net (33).

The shot of the day was turned in by Lamey, who sank a birdie putt on No. 18 to win his match.

Immergrun

LORETTO — Daryl Benz and Richard Kochinsky teamed together to win the Member-Guest Net event with an 8-under par 64 at Immergrun Golf Club.

There was a four-way tie for second place one stroke back.

Richard and William Olewiler won the Gross title with a 3-under par 69, four strokes better than Benz and Kochinsky.

Ken and Neil Hammond tied Robert Nagle and Pam Adams for first place in the Fathers’ Day Division Net event with a 7-under par 65.

Summit CC

CRESSON — Doug and Tanner Fogel won Flight A in the Summit Country Club’s Father’s Day ssunTwo-Player Scramble with 30 points. The Fogels finished two points ahead of two teams with 28 points.

Mike and Kyle Reese won Flight B with 32 points, John and Sam Klock dominated Flight C with 24 points, and Flight D ended in a three-way tie between the teams of Dick and Chris Cox, Tom and Mark Mardula and Ken and Brandon Martinazzi with 14 points each.

Quintin Dziabo, Denny Michina Sr. and Rob Maher Jr. won skill prizes.

In other action, Terry Funcheon won the gross division with an 81 in the men’s senior challenge event. Francis Pirozzola was second (84) while Jim Smith was third (86).

John Gibbons won the net division (76), followed by Mark Delaney (78), Bill Delaney (81) and Ray Eckenrode (81).

In the gross division for age 66-plus, Brady Eckenrode won (78) followed by Rick Holtz (80) and Warren Rhyner (81). Hop Burgood won the net division with a 77. Tom Angle was second (78) followed by Ed Ivory (81).

Sinking Valley

TYRONE — Charles Taylor, Dave Mackey, John Nardozza and Randy Himes scored 32 points to win the seniors event on Wednesday by two points over runners-up Mike Campagna, Jeff DeCriscio and Harry Miller.

Miller won two of the closest to pin contests, and Campagna won one as did Larry Baker.

Hole-in-ones

Joe Crusciel, from Bellmeade, made a hole-in-one on the par 3, No. 4 hole at the Summit Country Club. Crusciel used a 9-iron to make the 115 yard shot. The shot was witnessed by Mark Delaney and George Petyak.

Tom Abrams sank a hole-in-one while playing at the Cambrian Hills Golf Club. He hit the shot on No. 8, 170-yards long. It was witnessed by Karen Cavallo.

Mike Maier sank a hole-in-one while playing golf at the Sinking Valley Country Club. He hit the shot from the white tees using a 5-iron. It was witnessed by Dave Baumgartner, Frank Wiley and George Savine.
