Lady Panthers pull off big upset at home

CRESSON — Penn Cambria knocked off Westmont Hilltop, which had only two losses coming into the game, 6-5, with the help of two doubles and an RBI from Ashley Galovich on Wednesday in high school softball action.

Lilly Sheehan had three hits for the Lady Panthers.

ALEXANDRIA — Juniata Valley doubled up Claysburg-Kimmel, 6-3, despite a three-hit day from Haileigh Reed, who tripled.

It was only the fourth loss in 14 games for the Lady Bulldogs — who led 2-0 goiing into the bottom of the fourth — this season.

Taryn Stewart had three hits for the Lady Hornets.

Portage wins big

BOSWELL — Portage got four hits, including a double, and two RBIs from winning pitcher Maryn Swank in a 19-3 victory over North Star.

The Lady Mustangs took advantage of 16 walks and also got two hits and three RBIs from MaKenna Redfern, who also scored four times.

Portage finished out-hitting North Star, 15-3.

Lady Pirates win

FLINTON — Elizabeth Frederick struck out 17 batters and allowed only a Lilley Vereshack single, which was followed by a Hanna Noel two-run home run, in Williamsburg’s 3-2 victory over Glendale.

The loss dropped Glendale to 7-6.

Laney Prough drove in two runs for the Lady Pirates.
