BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- Callan Moss hit his eighth home run of the season on Friday night but it wasn't enough as Altoona fell to Binghamton 8-5 at Mirabito Stadium.
Moss led off the fifth inning with the solo home run off Binghamton starter Luke Gabrysh. After Javier Rivas drew a walk and Will Taylor singled, Samuel Escudero hit his first Double-A home run to cap off a four-run, five-hit inning.
Altoona added a run in the seventh inning when Taylor led off the frame with a triple and scored on an Escudero ground out. The four runs batted in are a season high for Escudero. Taylor finished the game with three hits for the Curve.
The Curve now have 28 games this season in which they have hit at least two home runs. Altoona's 123 home runs in 116 games put the team on pace to set the franchise record for home runs in a single season (143) with 21 games remaining this season.
Connor Oliver started the game on the mound for Altoona and allowed five runs on three hits in 3ª innings. He walked five batters for the third time this season but struck out a Double-A high eight batters.
Oliver allowed a two-run home run to Jefferson Rojas in the third inning to kick off the scoring and gave up three runs on three hits in the fourth.
Cristhian Tortosa gave up multiple earned runs in relief for the first time since June 27, allowing two runs on two hits in 1• innings of relief. Josh Loeschorn allowed a run in one inning of relief, while Justin Meis and Mike Walsh each delivered scoreless innings.

The last-place Curve dropped to 18-30 while Birmingham improved to 26-23.
