ERIE -- Altoona grabbed an early 3-0 lead and six Curve pitchers made it stand up in a 3-2 win over the Erie SeaWolves on Sunday afternoon at UPMC Park.
After dropping the first four games of the series, Altoona came away with back-to-back wins to finish off the series.
The Curve jumped all over Erie starter Troy Melton in the first inning and plated all three runs. Jack Brannigan doubled in Mike Jarvis and Termarr Johnson in the top of the first, and after a strikeout, Imanol Vargas drove in Brannigan.
On the mound, Emmanuel Chapman led the bullpen day for the Curve and earned his third win. Chapman tossed 2• scoreless innings. Fineas Del Bonta-Smith, Jaden Woods and Justin Meis covered the final 4ª innings in relief.
Brannigan extended his on-base streak to a team-best 17 games. The Curve managed just two base runners in the final six innings.
Saturday's game
Kervin Pichardo went 4-for-4 and drove in a pair to lead Altoona to a 6-4 win over the SeaWolves on Saturday afternoon at UPMC Park.
Wilber Dotel struck out eight batters in six innings and allowed just three runs (two earned) to earn the win.
Brannigan and Johnson each hit solo homers to help the Curve build a 4-1 lead after five innings.
Wyatt Hendrie and Sammy Siani added sacrifice flies.
