Pirates closer David Bednar and reliever Ryan Borucki both saw action in Altoona with the Curve as part of their respective rehab assignments Tuesday night.
Bednar is beginning game-action in his recovery from a strained left oblique while Borucki is putting the finishing touches on his assignment in his return from left triceps inflammation.
"Coming down on a rehab assignment, you just want to get back as soon as you can and today felt good so it was definitely a step in the right direction," Bednar said following his inning of action.
The next step for Bednar is yet to be determined as it's a day-to-day process in his rehab.
"I think it's just kind of take it one day at a time and kind of reevaluate tomorrow and you know, see where we go," Bednar said.
For Borucki, his outing with the Curve is hopefully the last box to check in his return to Pittsburgh.
"It feels good," Borucki said following his outing. "This was my sixth one, I threw five times in Indy and then the last one here I had to knock off that one plus inning. Hopefully that last check mark on the boxes that I needed to check and hopefully be back here soon."
