The Altoona Curve announced on Tuesday that the team will holds its annual CurveFest on Saturday, March 2, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at PNG Field.
Fans will be given their first opportunity to purchase single-game tickets. Fans that have season tickets, or mini-plans, willhave their first opportunity to pick up their tickets for the upcoming season.
The first 200 fans to show up on March 2 will all get a Curve fleece beanie, and there will be a game-worn Curvey jersey sale in the team store for those in attendance.
Fans who buy a ticket for opening day, April 9, will get another complimentary ticket of equal or lessor value for any other April or May game. The game goes for those who buy a ticket for the Curve's July 4 game with Harrisburg, but the complimentary ticket is for July 5 or July 6 games.
Individual tickets will go on sale online at 1 p.m. on March 2. The Curve box office will open for the season on Monday, March 4, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
The event will feature live music, food and vendors on the second-level concourse. Those who plan to attend are asked to park in the Red or Tan parking lots.
The Altoona Curve Booster Club will also be in attendance to renew memberships or sign up new ones. They are also going to hold a preseason FanFest on Tuesday, April 2. More information will be provided on the event at a later date.
LA Dodgers
A person familiar with the negotiations told The Associated Press that left-hander James Paxton and the Los Angeles Dodgers have agreed to an $11 million, one-year contract.
Paxton joins a Dodgers rotation projected to include fellow newcomers Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Tyler Glasnow along with Walker Buehler, returning from Tommy John surgery, and Bobby Miller or Emmet Sheehan.
Los Angeles has been baseball's top spender this offseason, committing over $1.2 billion to two-way star Shohei Ohtani, Yamamoto, Glasnow, Paxton and outfielder Teoscar Hernandez.
Nationals
A person familiar with the negotiations said Joey Gallo and the Washington Nationals have agreed to a $5 million, one-year contract.
An All-Star with Texas in 2019 and 2021, the strikeout-prone Gallo has slumped in recent years. He hit .181 in the last five seasons with 88 homers, 190 RBIs and 597 strikeouts in 1,323 at-bats.
He hit .177 with 21 homers, 40 RBIs and 142 strikeouts last year with the Minnesota Twins.
