BOWIE, Md. — The Curve got off to a slow start in game two of their key series here, and it wound up costing them their five-game winning streak.
Bowie jumped out to a three-run lead after two innings and then held off a late charge by Altoona in a 7-5 win Wednesday night at Prince George's Stadium. The Baysox evened the series at a game apiece, and the home team also moved back into first place over Erie by half a game in the Southwest Division.
Jared Triolo hit his ninth homer for the Curve, and Fabricio Macias drilled a three-run shot in the seventh inning as the club tried to rally from a 7-1 deficit.
Triolo finished the night going 3-for-4 to raise his batting average to .284. The third baseman has put together a strong season at the plate to go along with his good defense.
Starter Carmen Mlodzinski's tough season continued as he allowed four runs in 3• innings. Mlodzinski (3-8) saw his ERA rise to 5.17.
