Sabol helps Curve prevail

HARRISBURG — The Curve got some excellent pitching over the weekend, and the offense did just enough in one of the two games to at least slip out of town here with one victory.

Harrisburg beat Altoona on Saturday night, 2-1, then the Curve salvaged the final game of the series with a 3-2 victory in 10 innings Sunday afternoon at FNB Field.

Blake Sabol homered in the eighth inning Sunday for a 2-1 lead, but Harrisburg pulled even in its half of the frame. Sabol then delivered with an RBI single that scored Jared Triolo with the game-winning run in the 10th.

Quinn Priester turned in a strong outing for the Curve, allowing just three hits and one unearned run over six innings. He struck out eight and walked one.

Tyler Samaniego (2-2) got the win in relief, while J.C. Flowers picked up his third save. Sabol went 2-for-4 with his 12th homer.

Altoona lost Saturday night despite strong pitching from Kyle Nicolas and two relievers. Nicolas (0-3) allowed two runs in five innings, and the Curve offense managed only one run off the Senators.

The Curve are off today and will begin a series at Bowie on Tuesday.
