From Mirror reports

RICHMOND, Va. -- The Curve continue to play excellent ball on the road, winning again Thursday night to improve to 12-3 away from home.

Altoona knocked off Richmond, 4-2, for its third win in as many games this week at The Diamond. The Curve are now 17-9 overall, or put another way, they've gone 17-6 since opening the season 0-3.

A big part of the success has come on the road, while the club has gone just 5-6 at home so far.

Early and late

The Curve once again jumped out ahead in the first inning Thursday, scoring a pair of runs for a quick lead. Richmond pulled even with single runs in the second and third.

Altoona's hitters came through late, however, pushing across the go-ahead run in the seventh inning before adding an insurance run in the ninth.

The go-ahead run came home on a wild pitch in the seventh, as Arden Pabst scored from third on the errant pitch from reliever Ronnie Williams (3-1).

Deon Stafford homered in the ninth for Altoona, his second of the season.

Brendt Citta and Canaan Smith-Njigba had RBI singles in the first inning.

Stats and stuff

Oddy Nunez (2-0) won in relief for the Curve, tossing three scoreless innings. Shea Murray pitched the ninth to earn his second save. … Starter Noe Torribio allowed two runs -- one earned -- on three hits over five innings, striking out five with three walks. … Citta and Ji-hwan Bae had two hits apiece for Altoona.

McGough debut

With Max Kranick getting promoted to Triple-A this week, the Curve need a new Friday starter. That role will go to LHP Trey McGough tonight as he makes his Double-A debut.

McGough is a Johnstown native who went to Ferndale High School.
