EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Ladd McConkey missed practice Thursday because of a foot injury.

McConkey was downgraded after practicing on a limited basis Wednesday, putting his status to play at the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday in doubt.

He leads the Chargers with 12 receptions for 183 yards with one touchdown through three games despite missing time in the season-opening loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Sept. 13 because of a rib injury. He had 82 receptions for 1,149 yards and seven touchdowns as a rookie, and had reasserted himself this season as the top option in the passing game for quarterback Justin Herbert following a drop in production in 2025.

The Chargers are 0-3, having failed to score more than 16 points in any of their first three games.

Bear recovering

LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- The Chicago Bears have defensive back Kyler Gordon back practicing and have begun their 21-day window to reinstate him from the physically unable to perform list.

Gordon went through a full day of practice on Thursday as he returns from a groin injury and the Bears have a plan for getting him back involved on defense once he has been deemed healthy enough to return.

The Bears gave Gordon a $40 million contract extension in 2024, but he played just three regular-season games and two in the playoffs last year due to a groin injury.

Saints lose RB

METAIRIE, La. -- New Orleans Saints coach Kellen Moore says running back Travis Etienne Jr. is being placed on injured reserve.

The move means Etienne will miss a minimum of four games. His earliest possible return would come against the Cleveland Browns on Nov. 8. Etienne was among the Saints' top signings during free agency this year.

He pulled a hamstring during the third quarter of Sunday's 35-27 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders. The Saints return to action on Monday night at home against Atlanta. Their top remaining running backs are veteran Alvin Kamara, Kendre Miller and rookie CJ Donaldson.

Washington Commanders

WATFORD, England -- Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels says he has no concerns about re-injuring his left elbow and is "taking it day by day" on the possibility of starting against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Daniels dislocated his elbow in Week 2 against the Dallas Cowboys. He says he doesn't need immediate surgery. Daniels missed last Sunday's game against the Seahawks. Marcus Mariota threw three touchdown passes in the 33-31 win. Head coach Dan Quinn says Daniels would get more reps as the week progressed and by Friday "we'll have a definite determination of where we're at."

-- NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has met with Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker and the leadership of the state's General Assembly, adding another wrinkle to the Chicago Bears' long-running pursuit of a new home. The Bears said in August that the franchise's "sole focus" for the construction of a new stadium and mixed-use development was on Hammond, Indiana. But the public confirmation of the conversation between Goodell and Pritzker indicates that Illinois remains in the mix. Pat Ryan, a billionaire minority investor in the Bears and a member of the team's board of directors, also attended the meeting.
