Ravens still not sure about Jackson

By The Associated Press 2 min read

OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- Lamar Jackson was absent again at practice Wednesday, as the Baltimore star deals with an ankle injury that has already caused him to miss one game.

Jackson was injured two weekends ago in a victory over Tennessee. The Ravens were able to win at Atlanta on Sunday night with Tyler Huntley at quarterback. They play at Cleveland on Sunday.

Baltimore (4-1) has some margin for error after a solid start. That's in contrast to last season, when Jackson was hurt early on and didn't come back until the team was 2-5. He rarely looked great after that, so there's some risk in bringing him back too soon.

"I think it's definitely day to day," coach Jesse Minter said. "I think a lot of times, right when those things happen, you're not sure, and as you gather information, you look at stuff. … He's doing everything he can to be out here, and when he's able to be, then he will."

Huntley has won all three of his starts for the Ravens since the beginning of last season.

n Going into tonight's game at Denver (3-2), the defending Super Bowl champion Seattke Seahawks (3-2) are turning the ball over too much, their run game is inconsistent and they don't have much going on offense other than All-Pro Jaxon Smith-Njigba. But Seattle's defense remains elite. Bo Nix and the Broncos, 3-point favorites, are also having trouble on offense but an injury-riddled defense has been stout. The Seahawks are 13-5-1 against the spread on the road under coach Mike Macdonald. Denver is 3-2 as a home underdog with coach Sean Payton. AP pick: Seahawks, 20-19.

n Patriots wide receiver A.J. Brown is back on the practice field after being sidelined with a high ankle sprain. He returned for the first time since being placed on injured reserve last month. Brown is eligible to return after missing four games. He must be activated within 21 days or placed on season-ending IR. The Patriots play host to the Jets on Sunday.
