Baylor fired football coach Dave Aranda Sunday after more than six seasons and promoted defensive coordinator Joe Klanderman as interim head coach for the rest of the season.
Aranda's dismissal came a day after Baylor lost to Kansas 25-24 to fall to 4-3 overall and 2-2 in the Big 12 Conference. The Jayhawks earned their first win over Baylor since 2007.
Aranda took over the Baylor program in 2020 and led the Bears to the Big 12 championship and a Sugar Bowl victory in 2021. But he has had just one winning since and finishes at Baylor with a 40-40 record.

Union wants Hurts review
The NFL and NFL Players Association are working together to review the handling of Jalen Hurts' blood clot diagnosis.
The league and players' union released a joint statement Sunday saying they are looking into it after the NFLPA called for an investigation earlier in the week.
Hurts was placed on injured reserve and is expected to miss the rest of the season after a blood clot in his left calf traveled to his lungs. The Eagles and agent Nicole Lynn said Monday that Hurts has deep vein thrombosis and bilateral pulmonary emboli.
His treatment involves blood thinners, and Hurts will not be allowed to participate in any football activities until he is off them.
Earlier in the week, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said the league welcomed an investigation after the league's medical staff defending the Eagles' care for Hurts.
