HENDERSON, Nev. -- The Las Vegas Raiders are gearing up for their season opener against Miami with some key changes.
Running back Ashton Jeanty returned to practice Wednesday after an ankle injury, but tight end Brock Bowers is out following knee surgery. The Raiders struggled offensively last season, leading to the hiring of Klint Kubiak as head coach.
Veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins will lead the team, with rookie Fernando Mendoza watching. The offensive line hopes to see improvements with Tyler Linderbaum and Kolton Miller. Jeanty is expected to share carries with rookie Mike Washington Jr.
For Canada
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- The Buffalo Bills are honoring their fans to the north by having the Canadian national anthem performed at their home opener next week, and amid rising cross-border tensions with the United States.
The team announced that the Toronto-based musical act Barenaked Ladies will perform "O Canada" before the Bills' prime-time game against Detroit on Sept. 17.
The game will be the first regular-season outing played at the Bills' new $2.1 billion Highmark Stadium. The team previously announced that U.S. pop band OneRepublic will perform during halftime.
Kamara back
METAIRIE, La. -- Saints running back Alvin Kamara has returned to practice for the first time since injuring his knee on Aug. 18.
Meanwhile, coach Kellen Moore has ruled out veteran defensive end Cameron Jordan for New Orleans' opener on Sunday at Detroit. Kamara's prospects for playing against the Lions also remain unclear. The 10th-year veteran was limited during practice.
Saints QB Tyler Shough says it would be "huge" to have Kamara available to complement projected starting running back Travis Etienne. Jordan's timeline for returning from a hamstring injury is less clear but Moore says the club's career sack leader is "progressing well."
49ers vs. Rams
Aaron Donald is back to join Myles Garrett and Trent McDuffie on a star-studded defense in Los Angeles. With a dynamic offense led by reigning NFL MVP Matthew Stafford and All-Pro receiver Puka Nacua, the Rams are Super Bowl favorites. But they're in the toughest division in the NFL and the 49ers were one win away from the No. 1 seed last season. The teams split in 2025 and the Rams have won four of the last five. So tonight, down under, the AP likes Los Angeles. Pick: Rams: 27-20
