NEW YORK -- It was announced on Thursday that newly crowned NBA champion Jalen Brunson of the New York Knicks will host "Saturday Night Live" when the new season begins later this month.
Brunson, who helped the Knicks become champions this summer for the first time in 53 years, makes his hosting debut Sept. 26 with pop girl group Katseye the musical guest.
The NBC sketch comedy show airs at 11:30 p.m. and streams live on Peacock as well.
US changing for Ryder Cup
The U.S. team is changing its qualifying criteria for the Ryder Cup. The Americans are using a system based entirely on points for the 2027 matches in Ireland.
Qualifying starts at The American Express in California and ends with the BMW Championship in New Jersey.
The top six players in points automatically qualify, and Jim Furyk will make six captain's picks after the Tour Championship. Unlike previous systems, points are no longer based on PGA Tour earnings. Instead, winners of majors receive 3,000 points, with varying points for other events.
"I have worked diligently with our team and am pleased to implement a new qualifying process for the 2027 U.S. Ryder Cup team," Furyk said in a release. "We possess an exceptional mix of veterans and rising stars, and this system will help us identify the strongest players in September 2027."
Players cannot earn points from opposite-field events.
The Ryder Cup is Sept. 17-19, 2027, at Adare Manor in Ireland. Europe has won the last two times.
