North Carolina football general manager Michael Lombardi has resigned after ending up on paid administrative leave as the subject of a school investigation.
The school announced Lombardi's resignation Thursday and said it would continue its ongoing probe. The school has not released specifics of the investigation since placing Lombardi on leave in late July.
Lombardi was an immediate hire of Bill Belichick as the six-time Super Bowl-winning coach of the NFL's New England Patriots made the transition to college coaching with the Tar Heels. UNC opened the year by beating TCU in Dublin, Ireland.
Kyrgios gets suspended
LONDON -- Nick Kyrgios has accepted a one-month suspension from the International Tennis Integrity Association for testing positive for cocaine at an event in Spain in June.
The 31-year-old from Australia had been provisionally suspended since Aug. 4. The ITIA says Kyrgios told investigators that he socially used cocaine during a night out before he was due to play in Mallorca and accepted that it was outside of competition.
The World Anti-Doping Association's default three-month ban can be reduced to one by completing a treatment program.
