The Philadelphia Eagles are bringing back fan favorite tight end Zach Ertz, three people familiar with the situation told The Associated Press Monday.

Ertz will join the practice squad in hopes of shoring up a tight end room depleted by injuries. Ertz's return comes with multiple Eagles tight ends dealing with injuries.

Dallas Goedert is expected to miss several weeks with an MCL sprain suffered in Sunday's 24-20 win over the Tennessee Titans, one person told the AP. Backups Eli Stowers and Grant Calcaterra also are injured.

Not again!

The Washington Commanders are again living a nightmare.

It took just two games for franchise quarterback Jayden Daniels to go down with another significant injury. He dislocated his elbow when he tried to brace himself while stumbling during Sunday's loss at Dallas.

The same injury occurred last November and kept Daniels out a month before he tried to play again and aggravated it. On Monday, coach Dan Quinn announced that Marcus Mariota will start at quarterback this weekend against Seattle.

He also said Daniels will see specialists this week.

Murray returning

EAGAN, Minn. -- Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kyler Murray has been cleared from the NFL concussion protocol and will return to action this week at Tampa Bay.

Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell confirmed that Murray will be back in the starting lineup for the game against the Buccaneers. Carson Wentz relieved him in the season opener against Green Bay and started in his place at Chicago on Sunday.

Murray's debut for Minnesota on Sept. 13 lasted just 11 plays. A hit to the side of his head from the lowered shoulder of Packers safety Javon Bullard forced him out of the game with a concussion.

Positive thinking

CHICAGO -- Chicago Bears coach Ben Johnson is leaving open the possibility that Caleb Williams could play in Week 3 against Philadelphia.

Williams left Sunday's 9-3 loss to Minnesota with a right hamstring injury. The third-year quarterback got hurt on a scramble deep in Vikings territory with about 7.5 minutes left. Johnson says he doesn't think Williams will practice this week, but he isn't ruling him out for the matchup with the Eagles next Monday night.

The Falcons (0-2) suffered a 34-3 loss to Carolina Sunday. In Cooper Rush's two starts, the Falcons have been held to one touchdown and 16 points. Penix has been recovering from a knee injury.
